Virgil E. Bill Smith Obituary (1923 - 2015)

Virgil E. "Bill" Smith, 91, of Kincaid, IL died at 11:46 pm, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. He was born July 18, 1923 in Illiopolis, IL the son of Virgil Reuban and Lucilla Mae Moore Smith. On June 27, 1943 he married Sarah Solice Seward in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2006. Mr. Smith had been employed at Peabody Mine #10 and retired in 1981. Bill was formerly employed at Borg Warner. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 4495 and he enjoyed farming and raising hogs. Surviving are his daughters: Judith Ann Fassero and husband Don and Rita R. Eckoff all of Kincaid; 7 Grandchildren: Todd Fassero of Chicago, Angela Merano of Kincaid, Rick Fassero of Kincaid, Jay Fassero and wife Katherine of Kincaid, Anita Clark and husband Greg of Morrisonville, Tammy Ginger of Pana and Crystal Kooms of Springfield. There are 12 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and faithful companion, Buddy. In keeping with Bill's wishes there will be no public services. Private family burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. McClure Funeral Home of Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
