Veda Mae Millman Obituary (1912 - 2010)

Veda Mae Millman, 98, of Taylorville, IL died at 3:20 pm Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Meadow Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 16, 1912 in Taylorville, the daughter of Marion and Hattie Worley Gilpin. On December 24, 1935 she married Hunter H. Millman in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1971. Mrs. Millman was a school teacher in Christian County and later worked and retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, Haselmere Chapter #221 Order of Eastern Star, and United Methodist Women. Surviving are her daughters: Marian L. Birdsell and husband William of Loveland, CO, and Sue E. Phillips and husband James of Taylorville. 4 Grandchildren: Danita Drake and companion Dale McManagal of Nashville, TN, Brent Morgan of Taylorville, Sheri Archibald and husband Tim of Firestone, CO, and Blair Birdsell and wife Elle of Lindstrom, MN. 6 Great Grandchildren: Hunter Smith of Granite City, Seth Morgan of Taylorville, Kale Archibald of Firestone, CO, Danny Birdsell, Colton Birdsell and Kaleigh Birdsell all of Lindstrom, MN. One brother, Virgil Gilpin of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother, Donald Gilpin, 1 sister, Lousie Wareham and a great granddaughter, Kira Archibald. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 3 at McClure Funeral Home with Barry Wright officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service.
