Turenne Victor Sonny Ballion Obituary (1926 - 2005)

Turenne Victor "Sonny" Ballion, 79, of Mt. Auburn, IL died at 7:30 am Monday, August 22, 2005, at Hillsboro Health Care Center in Hillsboro, IL. He was born February 9, 1926 in Christian County the son of Victor and Nellie Cheisi Ballion. He married Joyce Scholes on November 19, 1954 in Springfield, IL. He was a retired farmer in the Mt. Auburn area. Mr. Ballion had served on the Christian County Fair Board for several years, and was an army veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict serving overseas in Germany and Japan. He was also a member of the 793rd Military Police Battalion Association, and a 50-year member of the V.F.W. Post 4495 in Taylorville. Surviving are his wife Joyce Ballion of Mt. Auburn, Children: Alan Reeter and wife Becky of Mt. Auburn, IL, Vicky Ballion and companion Jeff Barnes of New City, IL, Janis Hartwig and husband Tom of Niantic, IL and three granddaughters whom he cherished Kris Reeter of Minneapolis, MN, and Samantha Hartwig and Sabrina Hartwig of Niantic, IL. Two Sisters, Judy Satterlee and husband Gary of Taylorville, IL and Betty Keefer of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George Ballion, Joe Ballion and Clifford Ballion. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 25, 2005 in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Mt. Auburn, IL. A joint unit of V.F.W. Post 4495, American Legion Post 73 and Amvets Post 29 will provide military graveside rites.
