Thomas Edward O'Brien, 71, of Stonington, IL died at 8:25 am Saturday, January 3, 2004 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. He was born October 5, 1932 in Owaneco, IL the son of John Edward and Helen Condon O'Brien. On December 7, 1961 he married Mary Ann Little in Decatur, IL. Mr. O'Brien was a farmer in the Stonington area, retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railroad., a navy veteran of the Korean War, Member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Stonington, IL; Knights of Columbus in Decatur, American Legion in Stonington, Moose Lodge in Taylorville, IL and the Paublo Ag Museum. Surviving are his wife Mary Ann of Stonington, IL; Children: Kelly Yoder and husband Jeff of Edinburg, IL; John O'Brien and wife Shelli of Stonington, IL; Becky Long and husband Mike of Blue Mound, IL; Mike O'Brien and wife Beth of Taylorville, IL; Michelle Winans of Taylorville, IL and Ben Winans of Stonington, IL. Mother Helen O'Brien of Morrisonville, IL, 2 Brothers, Raymond O'Brien and wife Darlene of Morrisonville, and Joe O'Brien and wife Judy of Palmyra, IL and a Sister, Delores Schmedeke and husband Dale of Morrisonville, IL. 11 Grandchildren: Monica Yoder, Kyle Yoder, Brian Yoder, Adam Yoder, Katie O'Brien, Tommy O'Brien, Ryan Long, Mackenzie O'Brien, Matthew O'Brien, Eric Winans and Travis Winans. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, IL with Father Martin O'Hara officiating. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington.
