Stuart F. Winn Obituary (1936 - 2012)

Stuart F. "Stu" Winn, 76, of Stonington, IL died, surrounded by family and friends, at 8:50 am Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Meadow Manor Nursing Home, Taylorville. He was born March 18, 1936 in Westin, Illinois, the son of Glenn and Betty Cagley Winn. On October 1, 1975 he married Carolyn Young in Divernon, IL. Mr. Winn had been employed at Mueller Co. in Decatur for 40 years. Following that he worked at Garwood Seed Company for 5 years and G.S.I. for two years. Stuart was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, Life Member of the Stonington American Legion, Lifetime Member of Moweaqua Lodge #180 A.F. Ansar Shrine and the Ansar Ag Corps. He was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan and loved going to the games. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and driving his tractor in parades and supporting the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Winn of Stonington, Son: David S. Winn of Pooler, GA, Brother Byron W. Winn and wife Nancy of Stonington, and his beloved dog, Foxy. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Verna Lawler. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 29 at McClure Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville with Masonic Rites at 6:30 pm.
