Ruth Thomas Obituary (1913 - 2010) - Taylorville, Illinois

Ruth Thomas, 97, of Taylorville, IL died at 7:45 pm Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Taylorville Care Center. She was born in Calhoun, MO July 23, 1913 the daughter and only child of George and Opal Littlepage McCombs. The family later moved to Carlinville, IL and then moved to Taylorville where Ruth graduated from High School. On November 11, 1933 she married John W. Thomas in Springfield and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1990. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and the United Methodist Women. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including: Sally Combs and husband Dave and Pat McCollum and husband Gene all of Taylorville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 6, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville with Rev. Charlie Sward officiating. There will be no visitation.
