Rudolph W. Rudy Herkert Obituary (1913 - 2003)

Rudolph William "Rudy" Herkert, Sr. 90, of Taylorville, IL died at 10:30 pm Saturday, July 12, 2003 at his residence. He was born May 12, 1913 in Johnson Township, IL the son of Rudolph Francis and Anna Margaret Brendle Herkert. On January 23, 1954 he married Norma Jean Lush at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2120, and an Associate Member of the Adorer's of the Blood of Christ. Mr. Herkert was a farmer and formerly employed by Wayne Feeds of Taylorville. He is survived by his wife Norma Jean Herkert of Taylorville; Daughter: Linda Stone of Taylorville; Sons: Rudolph Herkert, Jr. and Phillip Herkert and wife Danette both of Taylorville and Frank Herkert and wife Kim of Morrisonville. Sisters: Madonna Herkert of Taylorville and Marcella Lush and husband Joe of Morrisonville, IL. Brother-in-law: Leon Cocagne of West Covina, CA. 4 Grandchildren: Jessika Herkert, Kathy Herkert, Aaron Herkert and Austin Herkert. Several Nieces and Nephew also survive. Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 sisters, Theresa Atkinson and Frances Cocagne and a nephew Daniel Cocagne. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 15, 2003 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville with a prayer service at 7:30. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School.
