Ricky G. Vatthauer Obituary (1961 - 2009)

Rick G. Vatthauer, 47, of Taylorville, IL died at 6:03 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born February 6, 1961 in Taylorville, IL the son of Robert D. and Judith K. Wilkinson Vatthauer. On August 4, 1989 he married Karen J. Wright and they were later divorced. He was Valedictorian of Moweaqua High School Class of 1979, received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Sangamon State University and his Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Illinois. He was a 21 year member of the Illinois Air National Guard retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2004. He earned his black belt in karate and was an instructor at Lincolnland College. Rick joined the Taylorville Police Department on October 5, 1985 and was the D.A.R.E. Officer from 1995 until the present. His memberships include the Christian County Y.M.C.A., Police Benevolent Association, and the Moose Lodge of Taylorville. Surviving are his Son: Ricky Vatthauer of Taylorville, Parents: Robert and Judith Vatthauer of Moweaqua, IL, Fiancee: Diana Smith and daughter Cassandra of Taylorville, Step-mother: Cheryl Bouvet of Taylorville, Half-Sisters: Chrystal Bouvet and Michelle Bouvet both of Taylorville. There are numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his: Brother: Jeff Vatthauer, biological father, Carmen Bouvet, Maternal Grandmother: Lorraine Wilkinson and Paternal Grandparents: Gilbert and Helen Vatthauer. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 12, 2009 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Gaylord Spilker officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Edinburg Cemetery.
