Pearl C. Sloan Obituary (1922 - 2003)

Pearl C. Sloan, 80, of Taylorville, IL died at 5:15 am Saturday, January 11, 2003 at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. She was born July 24, 1922 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Janie York Whennen. On August 13, 1939 she married Wayne H. Sloan in St. Louis, MO and he preceded in death on October 10, 1999. Mrs. Sloan was a homemaker and a member of the Owaneco United Methodist Church. She is survived by: 3 sons, Earl Sloan and wife Louise of Millersville, IL; Leonard Sloan and wife Lynn of Phoenix, AZ and Mitchell Sloan of Taylorville, IL. 2 daughters: Janell Clayton and husband Jim of Decatur, IL and Mary Jo Durbin and husband Mark of Taylorville, IL. Former son-in-law, Paul Brozio of Decatur. 2 Brothers, Bob Whennen of Boyne City, MI and Jack Whennen of Decatur, IL. 4 sisters, Claudine Ruot and husband LaVerne of Pana, IL; Lila Rozek and husband Richard of Taylorville, IL; Theda Adams and husband Elwood of Kenney, IL and Ellen Stanton of Boyne City, MI. Special Cousin, Frances McPeek of Taylorville, IL. There are 14 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 3 Step-grandchildren and 1 Step-great Granddaughter. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, 1 son Larry Dean Sloan, 1 Grandson, 1 Brother and 2 Sisters. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Rev. Kim Dancey officiating. Burial will be in Owaneco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday in the Funeral home.
