Martin I. Rev. O'Hara Obituary (1927 - 2011)

Rev. Martin Ignatius O'Hara, 83, of Stonington, IL died at 6:22 am Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born July 3, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Michael and Bridget Durkin O'Hara. Fr. O'Hara was ordained in the Springfield Diocese of the Catholic Church for 58 years. Surviving are his Sisters: Sr. Mary Elizabeth O'Hara O.P., Beatrice Hopman, and Sr. Ann O'Hara O.P.; Sisters-in-law: June O'Hara and Ellen Brannigan; Brother-in-law: James Hassett. There are many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Brothers: Rev. James O'Hara, Hugh O'Hara, John O'Hara, Rev. Michael O'Hara, and Thomas E. O'Hara and wife Amanda; Sisters: Helen Hassett and Catherine Brannigan and husband John and Brother-in-law James N. Hopman. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington with Bishop Thomas John Paprocki officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday at Holy Trinity. There will also be a mass at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Chicago at 11:00 am Friday, May 13. Visitation in Chicago will be at St. John Fisher from 3:00pm - 9:00 pm on Thursday, May 12. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
