Luella Childs Obituary (1921 - 2002)

Luella Childs, 80, of Stonington, IL died at 5:35 pm Thursday, February 14, 2002 in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. She was born February 22, 1921 in Stonington, IL, the daughter of Harry L. and Lula I. Simpson Blome, Sr. In 1956, she married Earl "Bud" Childs in Stonington and he preceded in death on September 27, 1970. She was a former employee of the High Flier Kite Company of Decatur, IL; Member of the First Baptist Church, Stonington, IL; Sunshine Sisters, Dorcas Society and the Quilting Bee, all of the Church. She is survived by Step Children: Diane Spengler and husband Carl of Pawnee, IL, Michael D. Childs and wife Roberta L. of Mt. Zion, IL and Sherry Damery and husband Gary of Blue Mound, IL. Brother: Harry Blome, Jr. and wife Mary of Stonington and Sister, Doris Bauer and husband Lee, Stonington, IL. 18 Step Grandchildren and 13 Step Great Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 am Monday, February 18, 2002 in First Baptist Church Stonington. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2002 in McClure Funeral Home and one hour prior to services in the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Stonington.
