Leah Fern Hughes, 94, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:50 pm Thursday, December 4, 2003 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1909 in Edinburg, IL, the daughter of Herman Otis and Iva Josephine Luenach Rhodes. On July 12, 1930 she married John E. Hughes in Taylorville and he preceded in death on November 9, 1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Taylorville; Ladies of the Moose, Taylorville; College of Regents of the Moose Lodge and Royal Neighbors Camp #605 of Taylorville. She is survived by her 4 sons: Walter Gerald Hughes; Ronald Eugene Hughes and wife Pat; Herman Edward Hughes and wife Doris all of Taylorville, IL and Marvin L. Hughes and wife Judy of Mt. Zion, IL. 12 Grandchildren: Gary A. Hughes of Springfield, IL; Beth Hughes Grubaugh and husband Bryan of Taylorville; Rick Hughes and wife Susie of Taylorville; Kevin L. Hughes and wife Faye of Morrisonville; Laurie Ann Smith of Sullivan; Ronnie L. Hughes and wife Janet of Sachse, TX; Mark E. Hughes and wife Angela of Taylorville; Michael J. Hughes and wife Tonya of Taylorville; Heather L. Hughes of Clinton; Michelle L. Koslofski and husband Kevin of Decatur; Angela A. Mason and husband Bret of Taylorville and Leslie A. Vasich and husband Joe of Lisle, IL. 21 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son Johnny Dewayne Hughes in infancy and a sister, Louise Bell. Funeral Services will be Monday, December 8, 2003 at 11:00 am in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Pastor Philip Neumann officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, December 7 in the McClure Funeral Home.
