Kathy May Bona Obituary (1954 - 2016)

Kathy May Bona, 62, of Taylorville died at 8:57 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on December 18, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Gordon and Bethel (Handley) Cline. She married Bradley M. Bona on June 21, 1974 in Fridley, Minnesota. Kathy was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church. In 1992, she and Brad opened A-Frame on the square in Taylorville. Kathy was a gifted artist, who excelled in oils and loved all mediums. She is survived by her husband, Brad Bona of Taylorville; children: Jarod Bona (Mary) of Rancho Santa Fe, California, Heather Bona of Taylorville, Chris Bona (Janna) of Round Rock, Texas, and Jamie Bona of San Diego, California; grandchildren: Oscar Bona and Liam Bona; siblings: Connie Holman of Plano, Texas, Judy Holman of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Nancy Carlson (Don) of Plymouth, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and step father: Roy Holman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Taylorville First United Methodist with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville. Memorials may be made to the Taylorville Public Schools Foundation to further art education in the classroom.
