Harriett J. Farr Obituary (1924 - 2010)

Harriett J. Farr, 86, of Taylorville, IL died at 12:30 pm Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her residence with her family surrounding her. She was born March 11, 1924 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Anthony and Mamie Howe Yoggerst. She married George E. "Ernie" Farr on December 28, 1946 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2002. Harriett graduated from St. John's School of nursing in 1946. Nursing came naturally to her as she cared for many patients during her years at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital and the Christian County Medical Clinic. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville and the Catholic Daughters of America. Harriett was a constant positive role model earning the respect of those who knew and loved her.She had a unique way of making everyone she knew feel special. Her home was always filled with family and friends, and she greeted them with wide open arms into an environment of love and happiness. Her strong Catholic faith carried her through the bumps and joys of life. Her family is comforted knowing that she has reunited with the love of her life, George "Ernie" Farr. She is survived by her children: Jane Schachtsiek of Springfield, Peggy Johnson of Sun City West, AZ, Gary Farr and wife Anita of Humble, TX, Tom Farr and wife Sue of Columbia, IL, Bill Farr and wife Mary of Lakewood, CO, and Carol Large and husband Mark of Tinley Park, IL. 15 Grandchildren: Blair O'Conner and husband Neal, Brian Ralph, Todd Ralph and wife Amber, Gina Lovett and husband Brad, Jeff Johnson and wife Karen, Brandon Farr, Katherine Farr, Eric Farr, Allison Farr, Ryan Farr, Anthony Farr, Danny Farr, Mallory Large, Brian Large, and Mackenzie Large. There are 5 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville. There will be a prayer service at 4:45 pm.
