Harriett Elizabeth Sanders Obituary (1934 - 2009)

Harriett Elizabeth Sanders, 74, of Springfield, IL formerly of Taylorville, died at 2:32 am Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born July 25, 1934 in Mechanicsburg, IL the daughter of Edwin H. and Roberta M. Waddell Dasher. She graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1951. On November 20, 1955 she married Chester G. Sanders in Blue Mound, IL and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2003. Harriett lived in Taylorville for many years and prior to that lived in the Deland-Weldon area. She worked for Sangamon Card Company in Taylorville as a computer operator for several years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Blue Mound and was a member of the Dodger Fans Hall of Fame. Harriett was an avid and loyal Dodgers fan and also following Nascar Racing. She enjoyed sewing as well as designing and making doll clothes for many years. Surviving are her daughters: Cecelia Sloan and husband Robert of Rochester and Mary Barnes and husband Rand of Springfield. Two Granddaughters, Caitlyn E. Barnes and Elizabeth A. Barnes of Springfield. Three step grandchildren: Joshua Sloan of Pennsylvania, Matthew Sloan of Springfield and Jessica Monty and husband Scott of Loami. 4 Step great-grandchildren: Demi Freytag of Rochester, and Jazmine, Jacob and Samuel Monty of Loami and 1 Foster great-grandchild Jacob Freytag of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Betty Kerns and step grandson, Kenneth McCoy. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 20, 2009 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Rev. Clayton Tinervin officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, June 19 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL.
