H. Eugene Gene Vandeventer Obituary (1930 - 2006)

H. Eugene "Gene" Vandeventer, 75, of Taylorville, IL died at 6:40 am Monday, February 06, 2006, at his home. He was born December 17, 1930 in Moweaqua, IL the son of Hiram and Iva "Toots" May Vandeventer. He married Shirley Probst on November 23, 1953 at the First Methodist Church in Danville, IN. Mr. Vandeventer owned and operated a Farm Supply Store prior to his retirement. He was an Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Vandeventer of Taylorville, 2 sons: Mark Vandeventer and wife Susie of Valrico, FL and Dale Vandeventer and wife Peggy of Taylorville. Daughter: Karen Barry of St. Cloud, FL. Brother: Jack Vandeventer of Moberly, MO; Aunt: Edna May Heriot of Moweaqua and a cousin Ralph May of Westervelt. There are 7 grandchildren: Kent Vandeventer, Lauren Vandeventer, Dustin Barry, Carly Barry, Ryan Vandeventer, Sarah Vandeventer and Stephanie Vandeventer. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Cherise and a sister. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, February 10, 2006 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Rev. Charles Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, February 9, 2006 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL.
