Gerald Leroy Santowski Obituary (1930 - 2009)

Gerald Leroy Santowski, 78, of Taylorville, IL died at 7:35 am Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Meadow Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 23, 1930 in Chicago, IL the son of William and Anna Sass Santowski. On January 19, 1960 he married Fay Moskaloff Carriere in Wilmette, IL. Mr. Santowski had been a plumbing contractor in Chicago for 30 years. Following that he was the owner of building and rental properties in Decatur, IL for 17 years. Retiring in 2002 he then moved to Taylorville. Mr. Santowski enjoyed repairing and restoring antique automobiles and attending annual thresherman's reunions in Jacksonville, Pontiac and other locations. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in Taylorville. Surviving are his wife Fay Santowski of Taylorville. Sons: Gene Santowski and wife Jo of Des Plaines, IL and James Santowski and wife Alita of Girard, IL. Daughter: Linda Santowski of Grayslake, IL; Niece raised by the Santowski's: Angeline Matusiewicz and husband James of Chicago. Sisters: Blanche Miller of Chicago and Lorraine Neuman of Sun City, AZ. 4 Grandchildren: Luke Carriere, Lily Santowski, Eric Santowski and Daniel Santowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3540 Lincoln Trail, Taylorville, IL 62568.
