George E. Ernie Farr, Jr. Obituary (1922 - 2002)

George E. 'Ernie' Farr Jr., 79 of Taylorville, IL died at 3:50 pm Thursday, June 20, 2002 at his residence. He was born on August 8, 1922 in West Frankfort, IL the son of George E. and Ada Elliot Farr, Sr. On December 28, 1946 he married Harriett Yoggerst at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springfield, IL. Mr. Farr was a World War II veteran serving with the Army Air Force. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4495 in Taylorville and United Auto Workers of America in Decatur, IL. He had been a former coal mine employee and retired from Caterpillar in Decatur in 1985. Surviving are: Wife: Harriett Farr of Taylorville IL; Children: Jane Schachtsiek of Springfield, IL; Peggy Johnson and husband James of Tinley Park, IL; Gary Farr and wife Anita of Humble, TX; Tom Farr and wife Sue of Columbia, IL; Bill Farr and wife Mary of Lakewood, CO and Carol Large and husband Mark of Tinley Park, IL. 15 Grandchildren: Blair O'Connor, Brian Ralph, Todd Ralph, Gina Verzak, Jeff Johnson, Brandon Farr, Katherine Farr, Eric Farr, Allison Farr, Ryan Farr, Anthony Farr, Danny Farr, Mallory Large, Brian Large and Mackenzie Large. 3 great- grandchildren: Claire O'Connor, James O'Connor and Corey Verzak. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Margaret Dean and Dorothy Moody Long. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Monday, June 24, 2002 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Sunday, June 23, 2002 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.
