Gary Steven Kuntzman Obituary (1950 - 2018)

Gary Kuntzman, 68 of Taylorville, died peacefully at 11:07 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2018 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on March 18, 1950 in Taylorville, the son of Lester "Bud" and Nanette (Flanders) Kuntzman. He married JoAnn Masulis on March 7, 1969 in Nokomis, and she survives. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. Gary was also a dedicated Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Gary worked as a Civil Engineer, and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Above all, Gary adored spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his family as much as they loved him, and he will be dearly missed. Along with his loving wife JoAnn, Gary is survived by their children: Steve Kuntzman of Mt. Auburn; James (fiance Brandi Bess) Kuntzman of Mt. Auburn; Chris (Karen) Kuntzman of Taylorville; Kelly (Zach) Green of Cape Girardeau, MO; eleven grandchildren: Cody (wife, Rachel), Lacey, Quentin, JT, Kyle, Karlee, Liam, Nolan, Harper, Morgan, and Tommie; and two great grandchildren: Parker and Ellie; his father: Bud Kuntzman; three siblings: Dave (Linda) Kuntzman of Springfield; Kathy Kuntzman of Taylorville; Scott (Beth) Kuntzman of Stonington; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nanette Kuntzman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: James & Josephine Masulis; one niece: Jennifer Harrison; and one cousin: David Miles. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will take place in Fraley Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5 - 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Memorial may be made in his honor to: The First United Methodist Church Building Fund or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
