Evert G Nation Obituary (1924 - 2011)

Evert G. Nation, 87, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:00 pm Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was born January 26, 1924 in Taylorville the son of William Isaac and Cora Ashinhurst Nation. He married Isola Pearl Layman on May 23, 1943, then married Betty Ann Emerson on February 19, 1953 and Rita Faye Clayton on March 28, 1970. Rita preceded him in death on December 26, 2000. Mr. Nation was a farmer for many years, and served in law enforcement for over 30 years with the Taylorville Police Department and Christian County Sheriff's Office. He retired as a Lt. with the Taylorville Police Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1425 in Taylorville where he had served as President of 7 years and State Treasurer for 6 years. He was a member of the Police Benevolent and Protection Association and the Taylorville Moose Lodge. Surviving are his children: Paul Ritchie Nation and William E. Nation and wife Sheila of Taylorville, Brenda Swinney and husband Richard of Rio Rancho, NM, Sharon Burgess and husband Trenton of Sterling, IL, Judy Hardesty and husband Roger of Rock Falls, IL, Peggy SchIlling and husband James of Leaf River, IL, Ron R. Clayton and wife Lynn of Herndon, VA, Brian Clayton and wife Liz of Mt. Zion, and Everet Nation II and wife Cindy of Taylorville. Brothers: Granville "Spud" Nation and wife Doris of Taylorville, Kenneth Nation and wife Juanita and Roscoe Nation and wife Jackie all of Morrisonville, and Jim Nation and wife Kay of Taylorville. Sister: Uldine White of Blue Mound, IL. There are 34 Grandchildren, 56 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great-great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Brothers: Ivan Nation, Ira Nation, Earl Nation, Jack Nation, and Bob Nation and sister: Florien Bailey. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, April 18 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Francis Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service in the Funeral Home on Monday.
