Elsie L. Smith-Corn Obituary (1898 - 2002)

Elsie L. Smith-Corn, 103, of Stonington, died at 9:10 pm Sunday January 20, 2002 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville. She was born September 21, 1898 in Stonington, the daughter of Clement L and Ida Leona Simmons Smith. She married Marion Williams on March 5, 1942 and he preceded in death April 1, 1963. She then married Charles A. Corn on February 9, 1964 and he preceded in death on January 31, 1976. Elsie entered James Millikin University in Decatur in September 1914 and graduated with a degree in Domestic Science and Arts. She spent her entire life in Stonington Township and was involved in farming, trucking and the raising of livestock. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2002 in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Marge Overlot officiating. There will be no visitation.
