Della J. Smith, 102, of Taylorville, IL died at 10:05 am Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. She was born July 29, 1906 in Shenandoah, PA, the daughter of George and Margaret Zunelis Zigman. She married Joseph A. Smith, Sr. on September 6, 1926 in Okawville, IL and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1972. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, Catholic Daughter's of America, and St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at Bulpitt Furniture in Taylorville. Surviving are her sons: Dr. Joseph Smith and wife Janet of Taylorville, Dr. Edward Smith and wife Mary Ann of Peoria and daughter, Teresa King and husband Don of Hutley, IL. There are 10 Grandchildren: Michael Smith, Mary Elizabeth Smith, Peter Smith and wife Charlotte, Catherine Sample and husband Trevor, Matthew Smith and wife Collette, Margaret Southard and husband Alan, Joseph Smith and wife Kirstyn, Mary Christine Beintema and husband John, Kevin Sandstead and wife Teresa and David Sandstead and wife Stephanie. 2 Step-Grandchildren: Steven King and Sharie Hunziker and 10 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 Great Grandchild, 3 Sisters: Ella Crouch, Teresa Rossiter, and Isabella Zigman and a brother, George Zigman. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, September 27, 2008. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am with Father Alan Hunter officiating.
