Claudine Joan Rice Obituary (1916 - 2005)

Joan Rice, 88, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:05 am Monday, January 24, 2005, at Taylorville Care Center. She was born November 12, 1916 in Leroy, IL, the daughter of Claude and Adele Besser Dunkin. On July 24, 1938 she married Eugene L. Rice, Sr. in Fairbury, IL and he preceded in death on June 15, 1994. Mrs. Rice was a former kindergarten teacher and taught M.R.D.D. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville. Mrs. Rice is survived by her sons: Eugene L. "Larry" Rice Jr. and wife Sharon of Cherry, IL and Kevin M. Rice and wife Tonja of Birmingham, AL; 2 daughters: Sheila Barrett of Kirkwood, MO and Pamela E. Turner of Leeds, AL. There are 8 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother and 1 sister. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Rev. Joel Lohr officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL. Memorials may be made to Taylorville Care Center Patient Activity Fund.
