Charles I. Porter Obituary (1934 - 2008)

Charles I. Porter, 74, of Taylorville, IL died at 10:20 am Monday, November 3, 2008 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. He was born June 10, 1934 in Brownstown, IL the son of Charles and Maude Rine Porter. On November 26, 1960 he married Beverly Elliott Davis at the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Taylorville. Mr. Porter was an Army veteran and was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church. He worked as a Certified Automotive Technician at Northtown Ford in Decatur for many years. Surviving are his wife Beverly of Taylorville, 3 Daughters: Elaine Thomason and husband Jeff, Patty Sams and husband Donnie and Jane Harwell and husband Walt all of Taylorville. Brother: Jim Porter of Arkansas and three Sisters: Laverne Buff of St. Elmo, IL, Jackie Granfield and husband Claude of Blue Mound and Dorothy Feezel of Bethany. 5 Grandchildren: Tara Belsher, Cara Belsher, Dani Mitchell, Colton Sams, and Walter Harwell. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, November 6, 2008 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Warner officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
