Bettie J. Meloon-Thompson Obituary (1924 - 2006)

Bettie J. Meloon-Thompson, 81, of Springfield, IL formerly of Stonington, IL died at 6:45 pm Friday, March 10, 2006 at Taylorville Care Center. She was born June 21, 1924 in Sharpsburg, IL the daughter of Harrison and Olive Osborn Daniels, Sr. Bettie was a member of Stonington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Christian County Senior Citizens. She had been employed at Sangamon Company for over 25 years. Surviving are her Daughter: Carol Meadows and husband Earl "Sonny" of Springfield, IL; Son: Robert Friedrich of North Carolina. 5 Grandchildren: Joseph Meadows of Joplin, MO; Alex Friedrich and Christian Friedrich both of Decatur, IL; Cherish Bittle of Springfield, IL and Cassandra Geary of DuQuoin, IL. 6 Great Grandchildren: Jordan Geary, Ethan Geary, Samuel Geary, Joshua Geary, Riley Bittle and Logan Wooters. Also surviving are two sisters, Vi Walton of Stonington and Shirley Randall of Taylorville and a brother, Jesse Daniels of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Louis "Butch" Friedrich, 2 grandsons: Michael Joseph Meadows and Douglas Edward Meadows. 3 brothers: Harrison Daniels, Jr., Robert Daniels, Wallace D. Daniels, and one sister, Drucilla Sloan. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville with Rev. Phil Glick officiating. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery, Stonington. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
