Ara Lee Pearson Obituary (1927 - 2010)

Ara Lee Pearson, 83, of Peoria, IL formerly of Taylorville, died at 11:15 am Friday, June 18, 2010 at Rosewood Nursing Home, Peoria, IL. She was born May 4, 1927 in Taylorville the daughter of Frank A. and Leta Fern Logan Ward. On July 27, 1952 she married Elwood Marshall Pearson, Jr. in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1996. Mrs. Pearson Graduated from Illinois State University in 1949 with a degree in Education. She taught business education in Trenton, Mt. Pulaski, and Taylorville High Schools, and was a substitute teacher for District 150 in Peoria. She retired in 1985. She was a member of Pi Omega Pi and Kappa Delta Epsilon Sorority at I.S.U. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was active with the Methodist Medical Center Service League in Peoria. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Rosewood Care Center of Peoria and Passages. Surviving are her daughter, Karen Slane of Peoria and Son: Kevin Marshall Pearson of Wichita Falls, TX. Grandchildren: Christine Slane of Lisle, IL, Brian Pearson of Peoria, IL and Douglas Pearson of Centralia, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 24 at McClure Funeral Home Taylorville with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until time of service in the funeral home on Thursday.
